Astana Open Dialogue held a meeting with a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, during which the parties discussed current areas of analytical work and potential opportunities for further cooperation. The meeting was attended by H.E. Cho Tae-ick, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Mr. Shin Kyu-ho, Deputy Head of Mission; Mr. Kim ILJung, Head of the Political Section; and Ms. Galiya Nurkenova, Chief Expert.
Aibek Kumysbekov, Co-founder of Astana Open Dialogue, presented the platform’s activities and shared plans for the publication of the third issue of the Astana Open Dialogue Bulletin, a collection of analytical recommendations.
H.E. Ambassador Cho Tae-ick noted that regional integration processes in Central Asia continue to play an important role and emphasized the Republic of Korea’s interest in gaining a deeper understanding of the region. He also spoke about the work of research institutions in the Republic of Korea that focus on the study of Central Asia’s development.
The both sides discussed the role of think tanks in shaping the expert agenda and supporting evidence-based decision-making. At the conclusion of the meeting, they agreed to maintain communication and expressed readiness to explore possible formats of cooperation in the analytical sphere.
