Astana Open Dialogue presents the article “EU–Kazakhstan Cooperation: A Strong and Sustainable Partnership” prepared by Luc Devigne, a representative of the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Luc Devigne serves as Director for Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, and the OSCE, as well as Deputy Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia at the EEAS.

The publication focuses on the strategic relationship between the European Union and the Republic of Kazakhstan. It highlights that the EU is one of Kazakhstan’s key trading partners and investors, supporting the country’s economic diversification and green transition.

Special attention is given to the energy sector — Kazakhstan is a key supplier of oil, uranium, and critical raw materials to the EU region. The article also emphasizes the importance of further developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to diversify the economic ties between Kazakhstan and the EU.
